42nd annual Blue Springs "Shortest and Smallest" St. Patrick's Day Parade in the world
Please join us for the pre-parade festivities of coffee, refreshments, and conversation at 8 am in the lobby of America’s Community Bank at 1100 Main Street, hosted by Ms. Twilla Gregg, bank owner and President. Also, several Main Street food and beverage establishments will open at 8 am on parade day. Inklings’ Books and Coffee Shoppe will serve free “Irish Coffee” from 8 am-noon.
‘Paraders’ will then walk west a half a block to the "old drug store" at 1112 W. Main to begin the parade at 9 am. They will then will "march" across the street to "The Keg" where Tom Cooper and his staff will welcome them. This historic “Shortest and Smallest” St. Patrick’s Day Parade was officially measured at 66 feet by former City Engineer, Oliver De Grate. Plaques on Main Street between 11th and 12th streets mark the beginning and ending points.
This year’s Honorary Grand Marshall is Ms. Virginia Robbins, retired teacher who taught music in Blue Springs for over 30 years. Official 'Paraders' this year are: Pat Meyer and Jim Wallace. You can also see “St. Patrick” strolling around up and down Main Street.
